After a disappointing debut in 2016, the Los Angeles Rams are looking to rebrand themselves as not just a team that can contend, but the one that wins over the city. There is plenty that went wrong for them last season, but nothing stood out more than their anemic offense.

However, they have added some extra depth in the quarterback department by acquiring another young signal caller. After being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Los Angeles Rams picked up quarterback Brandon Allen off waivers, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo:

Allen is a sixth-round pick out of Arkansas in the 2016 NFL Draft. He is one of five players released by the Jags to create room for other acquired players. There were talks of him possibly getting a chance to start over quarterbacks Blake Bortles and Chad Henne, but it never developed past that.

The 25-year-old Allen only adds more youth to an already young quarterback depth chart. Goff and Mannion are 22 and 25 respectively. McVay admitted to not knowing much about the new addition, but is trusting quarterbacks coach Greg Olson, who worked with Allen in Jacksonville last season as the offensive coordinator. We may or may not ever see some regular season reps from him, but Allen’s arrival only indicates the Rams desire to get things going on offense this year.
