The Los Angeles Rams had three sixth-round selections in the 2016 draft after trades with the Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears, and they decided to continue the theme of their late-round picks, primarily selecting playmakers to surround rookie quarterback and No.1 overall pick Jared Goff with.

With the No. 177 pick, Los Angeles took South Carolina State tight end Temarrick Hemingway. He joins Tyler Higbee, who was taken in the fourth round, as tight ends the Rams took in this year’s draft after recently releasing veteran tight end Jared Cook.

Hemingway caught 93 passes for 1,056 yards and seven touchdowns in 45 career games at South Carolina State. In his senior season he caught 38 passes for 418 yards and one touchdown.

Kentucky linebacker Josh Forrest became the Rams next pick of the draft, and the first non-offensive player taken by the team. He will try to fit his way into a crowded linebacking corp.

Forrest had 232 total tackles at Kentucky, with his career-high coming his junior season in 2014 when he had 110 total tackles.

The Rams then selected Southern Mississippi wide receiver Mike Thomas with the No. 209 pick in the sixth round. Thomas played two season at Southern Mississippi after transferring from a junior college. In 25 games he caught 112 passes for 1,983 yards and 19 touchdowns.
