The Los Angeles Rams took to social media on Monday afternoon to unveil their new logos and colors for the move to SoFi Stadium in the 2020 NFL season.

The rebrand began as soon as their relocation prior to the 2016 season, and they have since put an emphasis on getting back to their roots in Los Angeles. Now that the construction of team owner Stan Kroenke’s $6 billion, state-of-the-art venue is nearing completion, they saw it as the perfect time to put the finishing touches on the move with their latest reveal.

The Rams released three designs featuring the throwback royal blue and yellow that the team has ushered in with their uniforms in recent years. It appears this was a point of emphasis all along.

Rams COO Kevin Demoff revealed the thought process behind what went into designing the new look, via ESPN’s Lindsay Thiry:

“The most exciting part of this for me, and I hope for Rams fans, is it blends the best of our pasts with what we believe is the best of our future,” said Kevin Demoff. “I’m sure it will be a surprise, it will be change, but lots of things are and I think it’s a change that our fans will come to know and love over time.”

Demoff added that the fans’ passion for the throwback colors played a major part in their decision:

“We always looked at blue and yellow and white, we looked at a wide range of things around that as accent colors,” Demoff said. “But at the end of the day, that was one place we knew our fans weren’t going to compromise.”

It is certainly encouraging to see that the input from the fans was taken into consideration when it ultimately came down deciding on the colors. A photo of the new logo that was leaked last month showed the same design had received plenty of backlash for featuring navy blue and light yellow.

Of course, many of the criticisms from fans have yet to subside when it comes to the logo. Fortunately, the team put out a number of options for them to work with, especially for the new merchandise.

The Rams are in the midst of some significant changes as they get set to usher in a new era at SoFi Stadium in the 2020 campaign. Although the logo will continue to be a topic of discussion among fans, it will soon be replaced with the unveiling of their new uniforms along with the opening of the stadium later this year.
