Throughout the 2021 season, the Los Angeles Rams have proven they are one of the most talented and balanced rosters across the NFL.
With stars at important skill positions, the Rams pride themselves on being able to win games in a variety of ways and that has certainly been true the past month. In Week 17, Matthew Stafford had another three-turnover outing that could have very easily cost them a win, but the defense stepped up when called upon and ensured the victory.
At the end of the first half, Jordan Fuller was able to come up with an interception that set up Los Angeles’ first touchdown of the game, completely shifting the momentum.
After the game, the safety emphasized that the team is always looking to do what it takes to be successful in all phases, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“We always just want to play complementary ball,” Fuller said postgame. “There’s been times this season where the defense hasn’t been playing great but the offense picked us up, and it kind of goes like that. You can see it; the offense won the game for us in the end. So, that’s how we play. We don’t get down on ourselves, or anything like that – it’s just football.”
Fuller’s interception gave the Rams some much-needed momentum and head coach Sean McVay noted how timely it was:
“I thought one of the biggest plays of the game was Jordan Fuller’s interception at the end of the first half,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said. “That enabled us to get in good field position. Matthew hits Cooper, give us a little bit of momentum going into the half.”
Complementary football has been the theme since for L.A. since McVay took over and playing that style bodes well for their upcoming playoff run in what is looking like a tough NFC bracket.
Fuller has really stepped into a leadership role as the Rams’ defensive signal-caller this year, which is pretty cool for a guy who was a sixth-round pick just two years ago.
