Johnny Hekker Impressed With Jared Goff’s Confidence

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff endured a rough rookie season as the team stumbled toward a 4-12 finish in the 2016 NFL season. While there were many reasons that factored into his struggles, the question remains whether or not he will serve as a viable play caller.

There is always a certain level of pressure that comes with being a former first overall pick, especially at the quarterback position. However, Johnny Hekker spoke about the second-year quarterback’s level of confidence this time around according to The Reynolds Report:

“He’s grown a ton and he’s worked very hard this offseason to be more physically and mentally prepared,” said Hekker. “The confidence levels about him are much higher than when he first came in. Your world sort of spins when you get into the NFL and you don’t know what to expect, he seems much more prepared coming into this season and just looking much sharper, so I’m excited to see what he has for us this season.”

Hekker is among his teammates and the fans who are rightfully optimistic for a bounce-back season from their young quarterback. Goff even said himself he felt much more comfortable learning head coach Sean McVay’s offense while the team was in offseason training activities than he did last year.

Los Angeles even made some healthy additions to help shore up the offensive line with Andrew Whitworth and John Sullivan. However, only time will tell if he will be able to repay the investment the Rams took on him.
