Rams News: Jets’ Jamal Adams Compares Himself To Aaron Donald

The NFL trade deadline is always an interesting time of year. When the Los Angeles Rams made their moves before the deadline, they were mostly kept quiet ahead of time, although that is not always the case.

New York Jets Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams was at the center of some rumors throughout the last week and has seemingly begun to distance himself from the organization despite ultimately not getting dealt.

Adams believes that a player of his caliber should not be caught in trade rumors. According to Zach Braziller of the New York Post, Adams compared himself to the likes of Aaron Donald, believing he is in that tier of players that should be immune from rumors:

“When I heard that, my agent called me and told me what was going on, it definitely hurt me,” Adams said. “I hold myself at a high level. The Rams don’t take calls on Aaron Donald. The Patriots don’t take calls on Tom Brady. That’s where I hold myself.

“When you feel like you’re on the same page and you have a meeting and you’re told something different, it sucks.”

While Adams may feel he is on Donald’s level, it really isn’t fair to him to make that comparison. Although they play different positions, Donald was a Pro Bowler in his rookie year and All-Pro by his sophomore season. Adams has made it to a Pro Bowl but is not quite at the All-Pro level, and certainly nowhere close to being a two-time Defensive Player of the Year.

Despite that, Adams is certainly no slouch. He has recorded 180 solo tackles during his nearly three years in the league, 11th-most during that time span. On the other hand, Donald leads the league in that same span for forced fumbles.

Adams’ career should be interesting to keep an eye on. Although all in all he should not be affecting the Rams that much with his disdain for the Jets, it could create more competition in the NFC. Adams has stated that should he be traded, one of his preferred destinations would be his hometown Dallas Cowboys.
