This year’s NFC Conference Championship will feature one of the most unlikely quarterback showdowns in recent history between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles. That is because over the last two years, quarterbacks Case Keenum and Nick Foles were looking for their next teams after parting ways with the Los Angeles Rams.

As a result, their success has been one of the biggest surprises of the 2017-18 NBA season. However, one person who is not shocked by their performance this year is former head coach Jeff Fisher. During an appearance on the Pro Football Talk PM Podcast, Fisher said both his former quarterbacks have been well-prepared for the situation:

“Not surprised whatsoever – as is the case with Nick,” Fisher said. “Credit goes to both organizations from the standpoint of realizing how important it is to have a quality backup quarterback. Both Nick and Case entered the same scenario at the start of the season: They were backups. They’re both experienced, they’ve won games, they’ve played tough opponents, they’ve won games against tough opponents. I’m not surprised at all.”

Fisher’s lack of success with quarterbacks has been well-documented in recent years. However, it is now magnified by the fact that Keenum and Foles have managed to lead their perspective teams into championship contention after years of floundering under their former head coach.

Not to mention the improvement of Rams’ quarterback Jared Goff this season. As a result, it is safe to say Fisher will not be looking for work on the offensive side of the ball should he make his return to coaching in the near future.
