The last week or so has been extremely difficult for the entire country after a black man named George Floyd was unlawfully killed by a police officer in Minnesota.

Police brutality against colored people has been prevalent for generations now, so hopefully this was the final straw and will lead to big changes in the future.

The Los Angeles Rams have been extremely vocal about social issues in the local community since moving back to L.A., and that was again the case with Floyd. They made a statement over the weekend expressing their dedication to working with the community to find solutions to the issue at hand.

A lot of their players have done the same, including quarterback Jared Goff, who released the following statement on Instagram on Saturday night, via Rich Hammond of The Athletic:

“My heart hurts for our country. There needs to be change and it can only happen together. I’ll never pretend to understand the struggles that the Black community goes through daily in our country and never will know this struggle. It is my responsibility to educate myself and actively participate in advocating for the change our country desperately needs in words and action. Love each other a little more than usual, come together, and continue to push for positive change in our community.”

Goff has always been one to help in the community, whether it be starting the “California Strong” initiative in 2018, or donating to coronavirus relief funds such as the L.A. Regional Food Bank during the recent pandemic.

As the quarterback of a high-profile team like the Rams, Goff has a huge platform, so it is good to see that he is using it to inspire change while also bettering himself as a person.
