The Los Angeles Rams solidified their case as one of the best teams so far in the 2017 NFL season with a dominant 33-0 shutout victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. Los Angeles has undoubtedly been the biggest surprise team after a disastrous debut in 2016.
That said, it would be understandable of some of the players who were on last year’s lackluster squad took a little time to smell the roses. However, quarterback Jared Goff says the team still is not satisfied with their fantastic start to the 2017 NFL season during the Rams press conference:
“I don’t think we’re ever content with where we are at. 5-2 feels good, but offensively especially, I was talking to some of the guys after the game, I was like ‘How do you think we played?’ they said ‘Oh we played OK.’
Los Angeles has now put up more than 30 points in four of their seven total games this year — a feat which they only accomplished once in all of 2016. However, there is certainly room for improvement for this young offense to get even better.
The Rams have often found themselves settling for field goals rather than touchdowns when in the red zone. In order for Los Angeles to take that next step as a legitimate contender in the NFC, they will need to do a much better job of capitalizing on those opportunities.
