Every practice is important for the Los Angeles Rams and rookie quarterback Jared Goff, who has very limited NFL experience and has a long way to go before becoming the franchise quarterback the Rams drafted him to be.

He reportedly has shown improvements on the practice field in recent weeks, despite losing his first three starts of his career.

He faces another tough test thing Sunday as the Rams host the Atlanta Falcons, the top scoring offense in the NFL.

The Rams have scored 10 points or less in five of their last six games. They will need to score a lot more than that to beat the Falcons though, so this week of practice is an important one for Goff and the offense.

At possibly the worst time, Goff came down with an illness Wednesday morning though which caused him to miss Wednesday’s practice. Luckily for Goff and the Rams, the illness is not supposed to be too serious as head coach Jeff Fisher said he is not concerned about Goff’s status for Sunday’s game, via Myles Simmons of TheRams.com:

“Jared came in the building early this morning and he wasn’t feeling well,” head coach Jeff Fisher said. “So, we treated him, he participated in the meetings, through install and everything, and just was not feeling well. We felt it was best to send him home. He’ll be back in the morning, I’m sure.”

“It doesn’t set him back at all,” Fisher added. “Not at all, I’m not concerned about it.”

With the Rams most likely eliminated from postseason contention, these next four games serve the purpose of continuing to develop Goff heading into next year when he will take over the reigns as the team’s full-time starter.
