Rams News: Jared Goff Continuing To Get ‘Comfortable’ In Offense

In his second season in the league, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff took a significant leap forward in his performance on the field. An essential part to all of this was the implementation of the offense under head coach Sean McVay.

This helped the Rams experience much success on the field in 2017 with their first playoff appearance in well over a decade. With that in mind, Goff is hoping to build off his improvement last year to gather more comfort within the offensive game plan next season, according to Myles Simmons of TheRams.com:

“It just continues to get more comfortable. Comfortable is the best word,” Goff said. “Stuff begins to slow down a bit more. It seems like it does every year all the way through high school, through college and now into the NFL.

If the Rams are hoping to take the next step in 2018, it will require another leap forward from Goff to build off his Pro Bowl campaign. He performed like one of the league’s better quarterbacks posting career highs across the board in what was a breakout year where he earned his first Pro Bowl selection by throwing for 3,804 yards on a 62.1 percent completion rate along with 28 touchdowns to just seven interceptions.

Goff will have another year where he will have better mastered McVay’s offense with more of the ins and outs. This includes further strengthening his on-the-field connection with his core group of receiving options with Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Tyler Higbee, and Gerald Everett along with offseason addition Brandin Cooks.

All of the pieces are in place for Goff to not only replicate his success from last year but likely exceed his play from far exceed them while possibly leading the team to a deep playoff run. There is plenty of potential for the Rams to put together something quite special next season.
