Rams News: Jared Goff Called Week 6 Loss To 49ers A ‘Gut Check’ But Remains Confident In Teammates & Coaches

The Los Angeles Rams had an opportunity to make a statement in Week 6 as they welcomed the undefeated San Francisco 49ers to town. But instead, they laid an egg, getting beat in every facet of the game in a 20-7 loss.

After starting the season 3-0, the Rams have now dropped three straight games for the first time in the Sean McVay era to fall to 3-3.

The Rams got off to a good start, jumping out to an early 7-0 lead on a seven-play, 56-yard drive that consisted of all runs. That was all the offense could muster on the entire day though as the offensive line could not protect Jared Goff, resulting in a career-worst day for the quarterback.

Goff completed 13 of 24 passes for 78 yards, which is the fewest amount of passing yards he has had in his career with the Rams. He averaged just 3.3 yards per attempt, and the Rams as a team went 0-for-9 on third down.

After a third straight lackluster performance, the Rams’ hopes of winning the NFC West for a third straight year are getting slimmer by the week. While Goff is certainly disappointed with his performance, he remains confident in his team moving forward, as seen on SportsCenter:

“It’s a gut check. Are you who you say you are? And I know this team is, I know these players are, I know our coaches are and we’ve got some much faith and belief in Sean [McVay] and everyone else. I mean, we’re gonna get right back on track.

Goff hasn’t been able to find much of a rhythm at all this season, which partly can be attributed to poor offensive line play. The Rams saw two starters upfront from a year ago depart in free agency and felt in-house options were enough to replace them.

The Rams have the easiest part of their schedule in the coming weeks so they still have time to right the ship. There are a number of issues that need to get fixed on both sides of the ball though, and if they don’t, Los Angeles can find itself on the outside looking into the postseason picture real soon.
