Another day, another blockbuster move made by the Los Angeles Rams. This time they addressed the offensive side of the ball with the acquisition of wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the New England Patriots.

Head coach Sean McVay has had high praise for Cook after admitting that he has had his eye on him for some time now. He added during an appearance on ESPN Los Angeles that the fact that Cooks and quarterback Jared Goff have already somewhat built a rapport this offseason was the icing on the cake:

“As far as those guys working out together, whether that influences the way we go about pursuing somebody, I wouldn’t say that’s the case,” McVay said. “What it does do is give you a certain comfort level. All you really hear about Brandin is what a phenomenal guy he is. … Jared was excited when I was able to give him a call after we got that deal done yesterday. He’s always respected his game and I think they’ve worked out a couple times together, sharing the same agent. And Brandin being from Stockton, I think it’s something that’s good where he’ll be excited to come back out to Cali.”

The speedy wideout is coming off yet another stellar campaign with the Patriots after registering 65 catches for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns. This gives the Rams a bonafide option to take over as the No.1 wideout in the offense.
Much like wide receiver Sammy Watkins, Cooks possesses big-play ability down the field and garners plenty of attention from defenses over the top. Fortunately, he will have the benefit of getting an entire offseason of work in with Goff.
