The Los Angeles Rams clearly overlooked the winless New York Jets in Week 15, coming out flat, resulting in a 23-20 loss at home to fall to 9-5 on the season.

The biggest reason for the loss was the lack of production from the Rams’ offense, who worked themselves into a 20-3 hole by punting five times and throwing an interception on the first six drives on the game.

Jared Goff has received a lot of criticism for his inconsistent play this season, and this was another poor performance for the Rams quarterback, completing 22 of 34 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns with one interception and three sacks.

After the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay admitted to being embarrassed by the loss, and Goff echoed that sentiment, via Gary Klein of the L.A. Times:

“Obviously, we’re disappointed with how the day went and embarrassed and sick to your stomach about it,” he said.

While Goff brought the Rams back late with two touchdown drives and a field goal to get them within three, they fell just short after being stopped on fourth-down in Jets territory late in the fourth quarter.

Goff took responsibility for the loss, blaming his inability to execute:

“We didn’t execute. I didn’t execute,” said Goff, who completed 22 of 34 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. “We didn’t do a lot of the things that we had prepped to do, and that’s how you lose a game.”

Despite the loss to the Jets, the Rams still have all of their goals in front of them as they will be heading to the postseason with a chance to get back to the Super Bowl.

In fact, the Rams still have a chance to win the NFC West if they win out by beating the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals the next two weeks, so hopefully Week 15 was just a minor setback for L.A.in their pursuit of a championship.
