Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff and offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth announced that they are partnering with the L.A. Regional Food Bank to provide two million meals to the local community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Both players are donating a million meals each, which costs them $250,000, and will help the L.A. Regional Food Bank meet demand for food assistance during this crucial time.

“There are so many people in need right now and we want to do everything we can to help our Los Angeles community,” Goff said. “My hope is that we can inspire others to support organizations like the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and United Way’s Pandemic Relief Fund as we come together to face this crisis.”

Goff also took to social media to point other people who would like to donate in the right direction:

Whitworth just re-signed with the Rams on a three-year contract on Wednesday, and wasted no time giving back to the community that he has gotten close with over the last few years since coming to L.A.

“Tough times, like what we’re experiencing now, really show you the true value and importance of community,” Whitworth said. “We’re here to wrap our arms around our hurting neighbors, let them know that they aren’t forgotten, and that we are here for them.”

According to the Rams’ official website, the players’ donations serve as the lead gifts to help kick off the Rams’ virtual Te’LA’thon fundraiser with the Rams’ new television partner, KABC, to help raise for United Way of Greater Los Angeles’ (UWGLA’s) Pandemic Relief Fund and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and their efforts to meet the city’s evolving demand for food assistance.
