Rams News: Jalen Ramsey Recruiting Falcons’ Julio Jones
Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

It has been deemed a foregone conclusion that Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones will be playing elsewhere in the 2021 NFL season.

Jones’ looming departure has certainly not gone unnoticed by other star players throughout the league like Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey. After all, the prospect of adding a five-time All-Pro to their receiving corps would provide a major boost to any team looking to contend for a Super Bowl.

While there is no shortage of potential suitors for Jones’ services, it remains to be seen which team is willing to pay the highest price. Regardless, this has not prevented Ramsey from shooting his shot.

Ramsey took to Twitter with a not-so-cryptic message to Jones on the Rams’ behalf to be considered a potential landing spot:

Although Ramsey did not specifically mention Jones by name in the post, the hashtag leaves no mystery to who he was talking to. It should also be noted that he had already expressed his desire to bring in more firepower to the receiving corps back in March to help complement Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp.

There is no question that the addition of Jones alongside DeSean Jackson would make this the most explosive group in the NFL. It would also go hand in hand with his desire to play for a championship contender following the acquisition of quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Of course, the biggest question is whether the Rams can clear enough resources at their disposal to make it come to fruition. Jones has a $15.3 million salary next year and the team has just $7.16 million in cap space at the moment.

Fortunately, L.A. does have a second-round pick in 2022, which lines up with the projected asking price from Atlanta. While it may seem far-fetched, it will be interesting to see where Jones lands this offseason.
