The Los Angeles Rams have about as murky of an immediate future as any team in the NFL as they face several questions about key personnel.
Chief among them is head coach Sean McVay, who is currently taking time to decide if he will return for the 2023 season. McVay has flirted with chasing other endeavors like television and broadcasting, but after the rigors of the 2022 season, there is a real chance he could walk away from the Rams sideline.
Aside from McVay, there are also questions about the roster and who might return for next year’s campaign. Los Angeles built the team around pillars on both sides of the football, but with a lack of draft capital and cap space they could be forced into making some tough decisions.
While nothing concrete has surfaced, Jalen Ramsey seems to be another player whose future may be in doubt as he posted a cryptic message on his personalTwitter account:
It is what it is! It was what it was! If that’s the end, I went out wit a BANG! Still THAT! 🤟🏾 pic.twitter.com/dEM63EFa4u

In the season finale against the Seattle Seahawks, Ramsey was everywhere on the field as he recorded five tackles and three passes defensed. More impressively, however, the defensive back recorded two interceptions that helped the Rams nearly pull the upset over the Seahawks and deny their entry into the postseason.
Ramsey has been a staple on the defensive side of the field in Los Angeles, and it would be odd to imagine a future without him patrolling the secondary. Despite having a down year where he failed to make a Pro Bowl team, Ramsey is still considered to be one of the best defensive backs in the league.
Although Ramsey is under contract through the 2025 season, trading him would be a way for the Rams to open up cap room in the short term in order to sign free agents or extend some of their younger players. L.A.’s team-building model has worked for them since McVay came to town, but perhaps Ramsey’s recent tweet is a sign that the organization is pivoting off their strategy and going back to a more conventional one.
As if fans didn’t have enough to wonder about, it now seems that there is a chance that Ramsey no longer suits up for the Rams which would be a shame considering his contributions over the years.
