The Los Angeles Rams are in a funk offensively after they put up another dispiriting performance in their Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Coming into the matchup, Los Angeles’ offensive line appeared to be overmatched and the team’s fears materialized within just a few minutes as the Cowboys were able to force a Matthew Stafford fumble that they recovered for a touchdown. The afternoon didn’t get any better as Stafford constantly found himself under duress and was forced to get rid of the ball early instead of letting plays develop down field.
The offensive line woes went from bad to worse when David Edwards left the game in the fourth quarter. Afterwards, head coach Sean McVay announced Edwards was placed back in concussion protocol, via

Rams head coach Sean McVay on Monday said left guard David Edwards is in concussion protocol again after exiting Sunday’s game against the Cowboys and being evaluated for one.
Bobby Evans came in to replace Edwards, but McVay didn’t commit to him being the starter for Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers:
“We’re working through that right now,” McVay said, when asked if it would still be Evans at left guard if Edwards can’t play against the Panthers this week.
The Rams wound up placing Edwards on IR, which means he will be out at least four weeks.
It’s another blow to a Rams team that looks rudderless offensively. McVay has done well to generate explosive plays with limited resources, but the wave of injuries has made it hard for even him to find ways to move the chains and put L.A. in scoring position.
Without solid run or pass blocking, the Rams are limited in their options which is why Stafford has leaned so heavily on players like Cooper Kupp and Tyler Higbee. Carolina represents a chance to get right, but without Edwards, their job becomes more difficult.
