The Los Angeles Rams already suffered a massive blow to their secondary earlier this week when it was announced that cornerback Derion Kendrick tore his ACL during training camp. L.A. figured to have a much-improved secondary from 2023, but may have to go back to the drawing board with even more recent news about Darious Williams.
Williams re-signed with the Rams this offseason after spending three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Williams played for the Rams from 2018-2021 and was one of the team’s premier corners when they had the No. 1 defense in football in the 2021 season. He cashed out by signing a three-year deal with Jacksonville, where he continued to have success before finding himself back in L.A.
And now, unfortunately, it seems as though he may be joining Kendrick on the sidelines for a bit as he suffered what Sean McVay is calling a hamstring injury on Thursday, via Stu Jackson of The Rams:
DB Darious Williams appeared to get hurt on the last play of practice. Sean McVay said he didn’t know what happened, but that Williams felt his hamstring.

Kendrick, Williams and free agent signing Tre’Davious White were expected to make up the bulk of the cornerback snaps for the Rams defense this season. Kendrick is likely out for the season, and if Williams’ injury is serious he could miss significant time as well.
This leaves White alongside Cobie Durant, Tre Tomlinson and Shaun Jolly as the primary corners. If Williams is expected to miss time, it’s possible that the Rams try to bring in some more talent to help bridge the gap. L.A.’s defense was already going to take a hit with the loss of Aaron Donald, but two top corners being out would be a massive loss.
As more information comes out about Williams’ status, it will be clearer what the Rams are planning to do in his absence.
Rams’ Kobie Turner dealing with groin strain
Kobie Turner led the Rams with nine sacks in his first NFL season while also adding 57 tackles, 16 quarterback hits and eight tackles for loss. He would finish third in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting and Sean McVay and the rest of the Rams are looking forward to him building on the immense success he had last season.
Unfortunately, things are going to start slow for Turner in training camp as McVay revealed he is dealing with a minor groin injury.
