Rams News: Cooper Kupp Will Not Be Placed On PUP List To Start Training Camp

The Los Angeles Rams announced that wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who is making his way back from a torn ACL, will not begin Training Camp on the PUP (Physically unable to perform) list.

With Training Camp finally set to begin, the Los Angeles Rams are focused on making it through as healthy as possible for the 2019 NFL season.

Kupp has spent the offseason rehabbing after suffering the knee injury in Week 10 of the 2018 NFL season. As a result, there had been plenty of speculation regarding his timetable for recovery being just seven months removed from the injury.

Kupp had been able to take part in some of the lighter sessions during OTAs and minicamp. It appears the Rams are confident enough to keep his activity going in training camp.

This is certainly an encouraging update for the Rams considering there had been some concerns about where Kupp was at in the recovery. It is safe to say they are confident he will be more than capable of taking part in some drills early on.

Regardless, it is clear that Los Angeles will be taking a cautious approach with his return moving forward. They certainly have good reason to after he was able to establish himself as one of the more promising, young wideouts in the NFL thus far.

Kupp had been in the midst of a stellar 2018 campaign before it was derailed by injuries. Despite playing in only eight games, he hauled in 40 receptions for 566 yards and six touchdowns as quarterback Jared Goff’s favorite target.

Although Goff managed to make do with the stellar pairing of Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods down the stretch, there is no question that Kupp’s absence was heavily missed on offense. The two will be looking to pick up where they left off last season as this team looks to finish the job in 2019.

The 26-year-old has been optimistic about his health throughout the offseason and is admittedly chomping at the bit to get back onto the field without restrictions, however, it is more important he is 100 percent by the time the regular season starts. Los Angeles has high expectations moving forward and they will need to be at full power if they hope to make another run at the Super Bowl.
