The wide receiver position has been one of the best one of the Los Angeles Rams’ biggest strengths in recent years, and that is expected to again be the case in 2020.
While Brandin Cooks is no longer in the organization, the team still has two of the best receivers in the league in Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, who are both coming off productive 2019 seasons.
Kupp had a career season, hauling in 94 catches for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Woods had 90 receptions for 1,134 yards and two touchdowns.
Even without Cooks, Kupp expressed his confidence that the Rams have one of the best wide receiver duos in the league, via Grant Gordon of NFL.com:
“I think Rob’s speaking truth to just who he believes he is and who he believes we have in this room and we challenge each other every single day to be the best that we can be,” Kupp said Friday on Good Morning Football. “The goal’s always to be the best football player you can be and we step on the football field and the production-wise, the things we’ve been able to do, the things we’re asked across a large range of blocking and understanding the whole side of football on the offensive side of the ball, being able to do all these things, I think it really plays into why we think we’re one of the best in the league.”
That was in response to a comment Woods made a couple of weeks earlier:
“I think we’re not like the flashiest group of receivers, but we’re just up there with production, up there with the best, if not the best, as a group and as a unit,” Woods said two weeks prior.
In addition to Kupp and Woods, the Rams also have Josh Reynolds and rookie Van Jefferson, both of which have a ton of upside, and one of the best tight end duos in Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett.
That gives Jared Goff plenty of weapons at his disposal as the Rams look to get back on track in 2020 after missing the postseason a year ago.
When the Rams reached the Super Bowl in 2018, they had one of the best offenses in NFL history, so they will need to find a way to get close to being back to that if they want to get back to the playoffs in 2020.
