The Los Angeles Rams’ offseason is moving right along, with mandatory minicamp already set to start next week.

Most of the team’s young players have been present to get their work in, but so has Cooper Kupp, who has looked to build rapport with Allen Robinson and Matthew Stafford. Kupp is coming off a historic wide receiver season, yet seems as motivated as ever to help the Rams win games.

Los Angeles and Kupp’s camp have been in talks about a new contract extension and usually ongoing negotiations mean the player sits out until a resolution happens. However, Kupp quipped he would be in attendance for minicamp given he has already been showing up to voluntary workouts, via Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic:

“I’m gonna be here,” he said, laughing. “Has anyone ever shown up for the voluntary, and then not shown up for the mandatory?”

As far as his extension goes, Kupp said he wants it to be fair for everyone and expressed his desire to stay in Los Angeles long term:

“I try to help where I can,” he said. “I don’t want to be in the dark on this thing. I also love this organization. I want to be here for a very long time, and to be doing things with these guys — not just the guys on the field, I want to be a part of this organization (in its) growth and the places I think this organization is going. And so I want this to be something that makes sense for everyone. I want them to feel good about it, and I think the best way to do that is for me to at least be involved in some capacity. It’s never going to be at the cost of anything on the football field, (but) the more communication, the better, and (we’ll) just be able to find a place (where) we can all feel good.”

Kupp blossomed into one of the league’s most potent offensive weapons and his new deal should reflect that. However, it is encouraging to hear that he is committed to the Rams, so hopefully something gets done in the coming weeks.
