The Los Angeles Rams enjoyed stellar production from wide receiver Robert Woods last season and it seems his expectations are now higher than ever moving forward.

Woods has played an integral role in the offense since his arrival in Los Angeles. He was able to kick things up a notch last year while emerging as the team’s No. 1 option in the passing game.

He finished the 2018 campaign with career highs in receptions and yards while producing the first 1,000-yard season of his career. It seems he has now set the bar rather high for himself. Overall, Woods had 86 receptions for 1,219 yards and six touchdowns last season.

According to Clarence Dennis of the team’s official website, Woods feels he has barely scratched the surface of his potential:

“I would say last season was my best season as a pro so far,” Woods said.

“I was able to put up 1200-plus yards, and for me personally, I feel like that’s just the beginning of what I can do.”

It is encouraging to see that Woods is not ready to settle on his merits just yet. He made a similar declaration last offseason when he wanted to be the Rams top wideout and ultimately managed to follow through so his comments are not to be taken lightly.

Although he had been seen as nothing more than a complementary piece in the passing game throughout his career, the 27-year-old was finally able to enjoy a breakout year in his sixth season. He has now become a trusted weapon in McVay’s offense thanks to his versatile skill set and ability to line up anywhere on the field.

It is safe to say that Woods will no longer be taking any defenses by surprise. He will be looking to prove last season was no fluke moving forward. Having Brandin Cooks and getting Cooper Kupps back to the receiving corps should help Woods continue to see single coverage.
