No coach ever welcomes midseason changes regarding the depth chart and roster, but sometimes it has to happen. Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher released cornerback Troy Hill following his arrest, with new players needed moving forward.
It was announced on Tuesday that cornerback Michael Jordan and linebacker Nicholas Grigsby have been signed from the practice squad. The Rams have a Week 12 showdown at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome against the New Orleans Saints.
The passing offense of the Saints will prove to be a tough matchup for the Rams, as he has many weapons to choose from in a pass-heavy offense as the game progresses.
The Rams also made some corresponding moves, placing linebacker Josh Forrest on the injured reserve and waiving cornerback Dwayne Gratz.
Upon receiving the exhilarating news regarding his promotion to the active roster, Jordan stated how his game has progressed this season, via Myles Simmons of TheRams.com:
“Early on, I was kind of up and down as far as being consistent,” Jordan said. “But as the weeks went on, I just kind of took a different approach to it. And I think they took notice to that and it definitely paid off for me today.”
Both Jordan and Grigsby appeared on preseason games for the Rams, demonstrating an effectiveness to at least remain on the practice squad.
In his first game with the Rams, Jordan will be lined up against one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history in Drew Brees. Although the challenge will be tough, Jordan stated that he’ll try not to be star struck.
Fisher stated there is a 50/50 chance he will be activated for the game, as the same remains to be seen for Grigsby. The NFL is a game filled with opportunities and each player understands that their presence being felt can mean wonders for their career.
