Even though the Los Angeles Rams saw key players like Jordan Fuller and Taylor Rapp come out with injuries in Week 18, they did get to see one of their young stars make a return.

After suffering an Achilles tear in July, Cam Akers made his 2021 season debut and looked almost as explosive as he did last year. Akers’ snaps were limited in his first game back but to see him even play six months removed from surgery is nothing short of amazing.

Achilles injuries normally take much longer to rehab and come back from, but Akers made sure to attack his rehab the proper way and he made sure to give the Rams training staff their due, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

When a running back suffers such a serious injury, it usually means the end of their career but the combination of modern medicine and Akers’ diligence in rehab made it possible for him to return nearly to full form. Against the San Francisco 49ers, Akers showed he still has some burst with the ball in his hands and it stands to reason that he will only get better as he continues to practice and get reps.

The second-year back’s return could not come at a better time as the Rams take on an Arizona Cardinals team that has been susceptible to giving up yards on the ground. Akers should be able to handle more work in the Wild Card round and it will be exciting to see him make plays once again.

He also said his main motivation behind making this return is to win a Super Bowl, so he will now have a chance to contribute to that in the postseason.
