The Los Angeles Rams announced that tight end Brycen Hopkins has been suspended three games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Hopkins, a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has played just eight offensive snaps this season despite being one of only two tight ends on the Rams’ active roster.

Hopkins will miss this week’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals and upcoming games against the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys.

According to James Palmer of NFL Network, Hopkins will be eligible to return following the Rams’ Week 5 matchup against the Cowboys:

Brycen Hopkins of the Los Angeles Rams has been suspended without pay for the next three games for violating the NFL Policy on Substances of Abuse.

Hopkins is eligible to return to the Rams’ active roster on Monday, Oct. 10, following the team’s Week 5 game vs. Dallas.

Hopkins is the second Rams player to be suspended this season, with Bobby Brown previously receiving a six-game ban for a PED violation.

With Hopkins unavailable for the next three weeks, the Rams are expected to bring back Kendall Blanton, who was on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad, to provide depth behind Tyler Higbee.

Hopkins stepped up in Super Bowl LVI when Higbee and Blanton were both injured, catching four passes for 47 yards.
