The Los Angeles Rams emerged victorious following their 17-13 win on the road against the Arizona Cardinals. In another hard fought divisional battle, wide receiver Brian Quick’s performance turned out to be key on offense.
With just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter, head coach Jeff Fisher decided to get creative with the play call. The team pulled off a quick snap, which resulted in a dime to Quick towards the sideline.
However, Quick turned up field with a strong move and burst past two defenders for a 65-yard touchdown. The 27-year-old has emerged into a big-play target for the Rams, following his 44-yard touchdown in Week 3.
Quick participated in the a postgame interview with Dani Klupenger of theRams.com, where he discussed his confidence following his Week 4 performance:
“It’s through the roof. I know what I can do and my teammates believe in me. I keep continuing to get better each week and stay humble.”
Quick’s production for the afternoon wouldn’t end there, as he came up clutch during the final drive for the Rams. With the Rams trailing by four points in the fourth quarter, the offense traveled down the field, arriving at the four-yard line.
With just under three minutes remaining, Case Keenum and the offense ran a classic fade route for the 6’4″, 209 lbs. receiver. When the team saw the play develop, they understood that the fade was coming.
After Quick’s second touchdown of the game, the sideline can be seen exploding in joy following the perfect execution.
Quick’s outlook this season is drastically different from the past. After suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in 2014, Quick didn’t have the same explosiveness entering the 2015 season.
Coming into the 2016 season, many teams forgot about the South Carolina native and focused on stopping the explosive Tavon Austin. However, Quick has emerged into a steady threat for the 3-1 Rams.
After the game, Quick stated that his hard work has paid dividends following their victory:
“It’s going right back to that moment. I feel great and it feels better. Having teammates that have my back and me playing with tremendous confidence. We are getting wins, so it feels great.”
While those two catches would go on to be his only ones, the big frame and growing confidence have Quick as a dangerous threat in the immediate future.
In four games played this season, the fifth-year player has hauled in eight catches, for 153 yards and three touchdowns.
