One of the big major splash moves that the Los Angeles Rams made earlier this offseason was the addition of veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to further beef up their wide receiver core. He is set to step into being one of the primary pieces of the puzzle.
It hasn’t taken long for Cooks to get some level of comfort about what to expect with his role in the passing game next season. According to Kristen Lago of TheRams.com, the 25-year-old has voiced that he will continue to trust the process of getting further acclimated to his new surroundings in Los Angeles.
“It’s early, but [it’s about] trusting coach,” Cooks said. “He’s been known to put guys in their best spots, I think I’m just going to continue to trust that process. As we go along, I’ll see that shape.”
Cooks has a chance to make a significant impact next season as possibly the top receiving option in the offense in the spot that Sammy Watkins held last year. Unlike Watkins, the Oregon State product has shown he can play various spots in the offense that could lead to him quickly finding his niche with the Rams.
He has been one of the most productive wide receivers over the last seasons being alongside Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro wideout Antonio Brown as the only players in the last three straight seasons to notch at least 1,000 receiving yards and seven touchdown catches. Cooks is also coming off a highly productive season in his lone year with the New England Patriots, he recorded 65 catches for 1,082 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns.
The fact that is begun to be a smooth transition just a few days in the process could signal that this could lead to another highly productive campaign and potential long-term pairing with the Rams.
