It is no secret that the Los Angeles Rams were able to make some star-studded additions to the roster this offseason. It appears wide receiver Brandin Cooks is already reaping the benefits of competing with other talented players.
His biggest competition in practice comes in the form of two Pro Bowl cornerbacks in Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib. According to Cameron DaSilva of the Rams Wire, Cooks is having fun going up against these two in organized team activities:
“It’s a dream, to be honest. To be able to go against guys like that in practice every single day, as a receiver, that builds my confidence,” Cooks said this week. “Come game time, I know I went against arguably two of the best corners that are playing in this game right now every single day. So I think it’s huge for the receivers, and quite frankly, for the quarterbacks, as well.”
It is encouraging to see Cooks is getting acclimated well to his new team. Needless to say, there is good reason for that.
Prior to his arrival, the Rams were at the focal point of NFL headlines this offseason after they were able to bring in a number of star players to the defensive side of the ball. Aside from Talib and Peters, Los Angeles also added defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to the mix. However, they finally addressed their need for a No. 1 option on offense with the acquisition of Cooks.
The speedy wideout is already considered one of the most talented, young players in the league. However, he has never had the benefit or perfecting his craft against not just one, but two All-Pro corners. That said, it should pay huge dividends for himself and the offense going into the 2018 NFL season.
