Week 3 will feature a battle of unbeaten teams between the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills. While it is still early in the 2020 NFL season, Bills head coach Sean McDermott is well aware of the challenge that is ahead.

The Rams have rattled off back-to-back impressive wins to start the season that included a nail-biter against the Dallas Cowboys and a one-sided victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Meanwhile, the Bills are also riding high with two wins against AFC East opponents that now has them boasting a top-five ranked offense and defense through two weeks.

Buffalo ranks third in the league in total offense thanks to the efforts of quarterback Josh Allen and McDermott’s defense is giving up the fifth-fewest total yards. Regardless, it seems he has acknowledged that this team faces their toughest test yet.

McDermott offered up some heavy praise for the Rams’ defense led by tackle Aaron Donald and cornerback Jalen Ramsey, per Stu Jackson of the team’s official website:

“This is a really good football team,” McDermott said during a video conference with reporters Wednesday morning. “A big challenge on offense, our defense going against their offense.

McDermott says he cannot help but notice how much Donald’s wrestling background translates into his play:

“That speaks for itself, right?” McDermott said. “Everything that goes into wrestling, man. I watched him warm up in the Super Bowl on TV and he’s warming up like a wrestler. If my information is right, I think he was a wrestler and a good one. I mean, that background serves people well in a lot of ways in their lives.”

McDermott added that the matchup between Ramsey and wide receiver Stefon Diggs will be a fun one:

“Jalen Ramsey’s a heck of a player,” McDermott said. “You know how I feel about Stefon Diggs, so those are good matchups. Those are fun to watch. We’ve got a lot of respect for Jalen. Went up against him a time or two there in Jacksonville, and now again that he’s with the Rams here, should be a good matchup to watch.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to McDermott’s comments given just how well these teams matchup from a personnel standpoint. It is also an ideal test for both sides to see where they are at in terms of emerging into a bonafide playoff contender.

Having Donald and Ramsey as the main pillars of this defense has served as a stabilizing factor for this defense after all the turnover they experienced this offseason. Regardless, they should have their work cut out trying to contain this Bills’ offense and Allen’s versatility under center.
