Rams News: Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters Could Miss Several Weeks With Injuries
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams continued their hot start to the 2018 NFL season with another dominant victory over their rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, to improve to 3-0. They did not leave their 35-23 victory unscathed, however, as Marcus Peters had to be helped off the field in the second quarter and did not return.

The Rams called Peters’ injury a calf injury, but there were fears that it could be something much worse. Peters was seen leaving the stadium in a walking boot and there were thoughts that Peters may have torn his Achilles.

Those fears were put to rest however as tests on Peters’ Achilles came back negative but he could miss 2-4 weeks, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

The Rams will surely hope this is simply something minor as they can ill afford to lose Peters for an extended period of time. This is made even more important by the fact that Aqib Talib also left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury:

Defense has been a key component for the Rams as they are giving up only 12 points per game and rank in the top-10 in both passing and rushing yards allowed. Losing Peters would be a huge blow as he has proven himself to be a shutdown corner, even returning an interception for a touchdown in their opening week victory over the Oakland Raiders.

It would seem highly unlikely that Peters will be available for Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, especially with such a short turnaround. Should both Peters and Talib miss the game, the pressure will be on Sam Shields and Nickell Robey-Coleman to try and slow down the Vikings duo of Stefon Diggs and Adam Theilen.
