The Los Angeles Rams announced Andrew Whitworth as their nominee for the 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award nominee.
One of the NFL’s most prestigious honors, the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award honors a player for their community service efforts as well as their play on the field. Each team announces their own nominee for their award, and Whitworth is a perfect choice given all he has done for the Los Angeles community since signing with the Rams back in 2017.

Whitworth spoke more about his involvement with the L.A. community and what it means to him to make such an impact, via TheRams.com:
“I never forget the moments spent out in the community and I’ve appreciated the Rams and the job they have done to be my partner in making a difference for people who deserve our support. To me, one of the longest-lasting things we can do and one of the greatest impacts we can have is not only to win football games, but to win in the communities where we live. That’s how you create a culture that expands outside your building,” said Whitworth.
Whitworth has been involved with several programs and initiatives over the years, most recently his ‘Big Whit Homes for LA Families’ where the veteran committed $20,000 after each Rams home game to help repair homes back in Louisiana as well as move L.A. residents struggling with housing to affordable homes. He has given back to military veterans, hosting 30 individuals in a Rams suite at SoFi Stadium through Merging Vets and Players.
Whitworth is more than deserving of the award given his contributions the past four years as well as his contributions on the field. Whitworth is currently the oldest tackle in the NFL at 40 years old, yet remains a rock for the Rams offensive line.
This marks the third straight year that Whitworth has been the Rams’ nominee for the award although he has yet to win it.
