Rams News: Andrew Whitworth Announces He Will Return For 2019 NFL Season
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The 2018 NFL season may not have ended the way the Los Angeles Rams wanted, but they can take solace in the fact that Andrew Whitworth will be back for the 2019 NFL season.

It is no secret that Whitworth has been in the final stretch of his career since signing with the Rams. As a result, there was speculation regarding the 37-year-old’s status after the Super Bowl LIII loss.

Despite being the oldest offensive lineman in the league, he is still one of the best players at his position. It appears Los Angeles will not have to worry about securing his replacement this offseason.

Whitworth indicated that he will be back for the 2019 NFL season, according to Twitter:

With Whitworth still playing at a high level, Los Angeles will be able to focus on filling a number of their other voids on the roster this offseason. Whitworth is set to earn a base salary of $10.25 million in, but there is no question that he has already provided the Rams with plenty of bang for their buck.

Jared Goff will certainly be happy to hear the news. Whitworth played an integral role in the team’s resurgence back in 2017 and has somehow managed to find a way to get better with age.

Whitworth spent the first 11 seasons of his career going winless in the playoffs with the Cincinnati Bengals. Fortunately, he was able to cure his postseason woes by helping the Rams earn a trip to Super Bowl LIII.

Whitworth has achieved nearly every notable accomplishment an offensive lineman could earn as a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro. All that is left is for Whitworth to ride off into the sunset with a Super Bowl ring in hand.
