Rams News: Aaron Donald To See Limited Snaps In Week 2

The Los Angeles Rams impressed in their 46-9 victory in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. Jared Goff looked as comfortable as he ever has in a Rams uniform, spreading the ball around and connecting with each of his receivers on multiples occasions.

However, the biggest takeaway from the afternoon was Los Angeles’ defense as they were able to return two interceptions for touchdowns as well as earn a safety. Granted, the defense was up against Colts backup quarterback Scott Tolzien, but the energy and force they played with bodes well going forward.

With Aaron Donald set to play Week 2 against the Washington Redskins after ending his holdout, the defense will get another boost. However, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, Sean McVay said he is not sure how much Donald will play:

He had a good week of practice,” McVay said. “As far as how we approach that game, that’s something that we’ll figure out in the next 48 hours. But he’s going to go unless something changes between [now and] then. The snap count and how many plays he plays is yet to be determined.”

The defensive tackle admitted that it may take awhile for him to reach game shape:

There’s a difference from running around and then having to be on the football field.”

Regardless of how many snaps he plays, Donald should once again be the disruptive force he is known to be. The Redskins’ offensive line will surely have trouble containing the three-time Pro Bowler.

Even with Donald back, Washington’s offense presents a more difficult challenge given all the talent in their receiving corps. Kirk Cousins will make the Rams defense work and it will be interesting to see how they respond.
