Los Angeles Rams legend Aaron Donald remains an influence on the organization as the young players on the roster who played alongside him still cite him as a resource.
Donald has remained close with head coach Sean McVay and even made an appearance at a training camp practice this summer. While the Rams don’t have a player on the future Hall of Famer’s level, the young defensive line featuring Jared Verse has found ways to keep the pressure up even without him upfront terrorizing offensive linemen.
There was no doubt that Donald was the best defensive player in the league during his playing days and numerous players across the league ranked him as the best overall player at times. A three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, he has a case to be the greatest defender of all time.
Donald’s emphasized he’s permanently retired from the game of football, but he’s found a new avenue to stay connected to the sport as he’s starting a new podcast with Atlanta Falcons legend Matt Ryan and others, via The Inner Circle’s Podcast’s official Instagram account:
The future NFL Hall of Famer is officially dipping his toes in the media space alongside Ryan, sportscaster Zach Klein and Donald’s agent Todd France. The four bring unique insights into the game of football as they’ve got a good mix of players, agents and reporters.
To tease the podcast, there were a couple of clips that were also released where Donald recounted stories from his playing days. The clips showed a lighter side to Donald who seemed more willing to share about his NFL experiences now that he’s a couple years removed from being in the league.
Athletes like Donald have really leaned into the podcast space the past few years, giving fans more of a behind-the-curtain perspective. While there aren’t too many details about the podcast itself, it’s good to see Donald opening up more.
Jared Verse tells hilarious story of workout with Aaron Donald
With Aaron Donald gone, Jared Verse is one of the young building blocks on the Rams defense looking to follow in his first steps. Coming off a season where he won NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Verse challenged Donald to an offseason workout after the two went back and forth on social media.
Safe to say that Donald got the best of Verse who hilariously told a story afterwards about his experience working out with him.
