Los Angeles Rams star defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been through his fair share of ups and downs with the organization. However, it seems he is ready to see it all finally come together.
Donald’s looming contract status will be the focal point of the Rams’ offseason. Fortunately, he essentially indicated that he fully intends to play after expressing his confidence in a run at the Super Bowl, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times:
“We can do it,” Donald said. “We got the players around, the coaches around us now, so we’ll be back for sure.”
General manager Les Snead has been vocal about dedicating a large portion of the salary cap to Donald’s soon-to-be lucrative contract. However, the All-Pro’s comments are vindication for any fans worried about another potential holdout from training camp. Furthermore, a new deal will cement his status as a member of the Rams for years to come.
Los Angeles has a number of areas to address this offseason — particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Outside of Donald, the Rams are incredibly thin in the secondary as well as at outside linebacker. As a result, Los Angeles could potentially part ways with some of the more expensive contracts on their roster in order to help free up some cap space.
