The Los Angeles Rams suffered a major blow after defensive tackle Aaron Donald was sidelined with a rib injury during the 30-20 playoff win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Although Donald did make his return to the sideline, he was forced back to the locker room shortly thereafter. While the Rams may have been able to get the job this time, there has been plenty of speculation regarding his status moving forward.

Fortunately, head coach Sean McVay provided a positive update indicating that “The Terminator” will be ready to play in this weekend’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Donald has since been able to solidify that notion.

After fielding a number of questions regarding his rib injury, Donald opted to provide some clarification on how he is feeling, per Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

“No pain,” Donald said during a video conference with reporters Wednesday. “I feel healthy.”

Donald went on to elaborate that he is feeling some soreness but it won’t affect his game status:

“Man, my damn side is just sore,” Donald said, when asked for specifics. “I’m good.”

Rams fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Donald will likely be available for the divisional round matchup against the Packers. There is no question that the prospect of him being sidelined would have dealt a major blow to their chances at advancing.

Despite Donald’s comments, McVay has indicated that L.A. will be taking a cautious approach with his recovery this week by having him sit out of practice. However, he has been able to take part in his own workouts, which is a positive sign that he will not be hindered too much.

The chilly forecasts expected at Lambeau Field will not be doing the Rams any favors with quarterback Jared Goff recovering from a thumb injury and Donald working his way back. Even at 80%, the latter is still better than the majority of defensive players in the NFL.

For now, L.A. is doing all they can to ensure that Donald does not suffer any setbacks ahead of this crucial matchup. Having the defense at full strength gives fans good reason to be optimistic about their chances.
