Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald was recently rewarded for his stellar 2018 NFL season, being named Co-Sportsman of the Year at the annual L.A. Sports Awards.

He is sharing the honor with Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers.

Donald was a wrecking ball for the Rams, leading the league with a career-high 20.5 sacks and being named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old was in attendance to accept his award and spoke about what a great honor it was, via Clarence Dennis of TheRams.com:

“I just tried to do my job — tried to make as many plays as I can to help my team win,” Donald said at the event on Monday. “It’s a blessing. Any time you get rewarded for the body of work that you put in you are going to be happy.”

“To be here, representing the Rams, it’s a big deal and I’m just happy to be here,” Donald added. “I got the opportunity to play in the Super Bowl, fell short, but the experience, and everything we did as a team, it was a special year.”

The Rams as an organization were also honored at the ceremony as their Monday Night Football victory over the Kansas City Chiefs was recognized as the top sports moment.

For Donald and the Rams, winning awards like these are not satisfying though as the ultimate goal is to return to and win the Super Bowl this upcoming season.
