The Los Angeles Rams 2018 season was one for the record books. As the 2019 season is fast approaching, time can still be set aside to look back on the achievements of 2018.

One such time will be during the upcoming 2019 ESPYS. The Rams are one team amongst many other teams and athletes that are nominated for the annual upcoming award show.

According Vincent Bonsignore of The Athletic, Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley were two players nominated and well as the team for their Monday Night Football Game against the Kansas City Chiefs:

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees are the other nominees for best NFL Player.

There is no denying that Donald and Gurley are forces to be reckoned with. Donald has already had his fair share of awards for the 2018 season, including his second consecutive AP Defensive Player of the Year.

Gurley himself is no stranger to awards. He was the 2015 Offensive Rookie of the Year and recently the 2017 Offensive Player of the Year. He also has earned two consecutive All-Pro selections.

This year could be very different for the star running back. It was recently revealed that he has been dealing with arthritis in his left knee since his ACL surgery in 2014.

Although Gurley has reiterated time and time again that he is feeling fine, this season he will not be an ‘every-down’ back. The decision largely stems from the fact that he missed the final two games of the season due to his then-unknown knee injury.

The nominated game between the Rams and Chiefs turned out as expected. The No. 1 and No. 2 offenses in the NFL showed out on the field in what ended as the most exciting game in the 2018 season.

Los Angeles came away with a 54-51 win after quarterback Jared Goff threw the final touchdown of the game to tight end Gerald Everett. The combined 105 points ended up being the third highest scoring game in NFL history. Both teams ended up finishing the season with historically great scoring outputs. The Chiefs put up the third-highest scoring output in NFL history with 565 points and the Rams put up the 11th highest with 527 points.

The ESPYS is the award show for athletes of any sport. They will take place on July 10, 5 p.m. PST, broadcasted by ABC. Fan voting partially counts towards many of the awards and many categories can be voted on by visiting ESPN.com.
