The Los Angeles Rams have already checked off a lot of boxes on their to-do list this offseason, but there is still some work to be done before training camp begins in July.
General manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay have both stated that they would like to work out a long-term contract extension with Kyren Williams at some point.
The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie deal that he signed after the Rams selected him in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
While speaking to reporters at the NFL’s annual league meeting in Palm Beach, Fla., Snead indicated the sides are not close to an extension at this time but remains confident that one can be worked out, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
According to Snead, Williams and the Rams have different numbers, but “we would definitely like to engineer a long-term partnership with Kyren.”
“Kyren’s a great human, we all want this to work out, it’s just, can we agree upon a contract where we both feel like (it) is a win-win moving forward,” Snead said. “And if it doesn’t happen this year, it doesn’t mean that Kyren’s not going to be a part (of the Rams) next year. It doesn’t mean we don’t do something a year from now.”
Despite the lack of progress in contract negotiations thus far, the Rams still have plenty of time on their side to reach an agreement with Williams and are expected to meet soon to negotiate:
Regarding extension talks with RB Kyren Williams, Sean McVay said the Rams are scheduled to meet with Kyren Williams' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, in Palm Beach today.
GM Les Snead yesterday said the team "would definitely like to engineer a long-term partnership" with Williams.

The most important thing is that both sides appear to be motivated to continue their relationship, which should help an extension come to fruition sooner rather than later.
Williams is coming off a career year that saw him rush for 1,299 yards and score a total of 16 touchdowns in 16 games.
Although the market for running backs can be unpredictable, Williams is in line to receive a lucrative contract from either the Rams or another team if the sides can’t work out a deal.
Kyren Williams grateful that Rams want to sign him to contract extension
Kyren Williams has heard the chatter that the Rams want him to be part of their future and he recently said that the feeling is mutual.
Williams also said that he is looking forward to the 2025 season and wants to show everyone that his best years are still ahead of him.
