Despite losing key members from their Super Bowl LVI run, the Los Angeles Rams have done well to restock the cupboard ahead of the 2022 season.

Trading away Robert Woods and seeing Von Miller walk in free agency were tough blows for the franchise, but the Rams rebounded nicely by quickly signing Allen Robinson and most recently Bobby Wagner. With Matthew Stafford opening up head coach Sean McVay’s playbook, Robinson becomes a much more intriguing weapon while Wagner solidifies the middle of the field for defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.

While the new additions will certainly get all the buzz, Los Angeles has also been busy working on a new extension for Aaron Donald. After Donald, it seems the Rams are also intent on rewarding Cooper Kupp, via Gary Klein of Los Angeles Times:

Kupp is more than deserving of a lucrative extension considering the historic 2021 season he put together and it would only be right to make him one of the highest-paid receivers in the league. Without Odell Beckham Jr. and Woods available, Kupp nearly single-handedly willed the Rams offense over the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl and that performance alone is worth a hefty pay raise.

It will be interesting to see how Los Angeles goes about Kupp’s extension given the other areas the team needs to address, but it could follow a similar structure to that of Stafford’s deal. Stafford was willing to accept a little less in guaranteed money in order to round out the roster in free agency, so that would be an ideal template for the front office and Kupp’s representation to mirror in the coming weeks.
