The Los Angeles Rams look to turn the page from a disappointing loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia when they host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
Unfortunately, they are set to be without several key players in the matchup as head coach Sean McVay revealed safety Kamren Kinchens has been ruled out and wide receiver Jordan Whittington is considered doubtful, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
Additionally, safety Kamren Kinchens (hamstring) was ruled out after not participating in practice all week, while wide receiver Jordan Whittington (quad) is listed as doubtful for Monday night’s game.
Star wide receiver Puka Nacua is another player who may or may not play against the Giants. He’s listed as questionable with a groin injury after missing practice this week.
In some positive news, Nate Landman, Omar Speights, Kam Curl and Davis Allen are all expected to play against the Giants after being removed from the injury report.
Already without Myles Garrett after undergoing knee surgery and being placed on injured reserve, the Rams will need all hands on deck to hold off a Giants team that is coming off a Week 1 win against the Dallas Cowboys.
Fortunately for the Rams, they will be getting back Aaron Donald for the first time in nearly three years after he came out of retirement during the offseason.
Myles Garrett healing like Wolverine
Garrett was the Rams’ premier offseason acquisition and unquestionably is the best edge rusher in the sport today. Losing him for at least four weeks is tough, but McVay is already raving about the progress he’s making, likening him to Wolverine.
“He’s feeling good,” McVay said. “… He had crutches yesterday, and then he was walking without crutches today, so he’s like Wolverine, healing fast. I’m reluctant to put a timeline on it. We’ve kind of talked about it, but we know that he’s going to miss those four weeks at a minimum, and we’re not going to rush him back. We want to make sure that he’s feeling good, (that) he’s able to get out on the practice field and do all the things that are necessary for him to perform at a level that he’s been accustomed to. And so that’ll be something that I’ll kind of keep you guys posted as we have updates as we go.”
The earliest that Garrett can return is their Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 18.
