The Los Angeles Rams have quietly emerged as the team no one wants to see in the 2025 NFL Playoffs as they’ve been one of the hottest teams in the league since their bye week.

After a high-octane shootout against the Buffalo Bills, the Rams traveled up north to take on their NFC West rivals the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. Unlike the Buffalo game, Los Angeles’ offense was almost literally stuck in mud due to the rainy conditions, but they still managed to pick up a 12-6 victory to improve their record to 8-6.

The Rams are now in clear contention to win the division, making their Week 16 matchup against the New York Jets even more important. Los Angeles is finally healthy for the most part, though Tyler Higbee has yet to make his debut this year.

It looks like that will change, though, as head coach Sean McVay said the plan is to have Higbee active against the Jets. “Yeah, that’s the plan,” McVay said. “That’s what the plan is. We haven’t made that move official.

“All things that have gone on over the last couple weeks, we’ve kind of had the expectation and the anticipation that that will be something that would be a move that we anticipate making. None of it has been finalized yet, but with the progress that he has made over the last couple weeks and the way that he’s looked in practice, I do expect him to be ready to go against the Jets. I don’t want to put a hundred percent stamp on that, but that is the plan.”

Higbee has been recovering from the knee injury he suffered in last year’s playoffs against the Detroit Lions, but it appears he’s shown enough in practice for the team to plan to have him on the field against the Jets. In his place, Los Angeles has trotted out a rotation of Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen and Hunter Long at the tight end position.

While those three have shown up in different moments, Higbee’s an underrated part of the offense and it’ll be interesting to see how he looks in his first game back from injury.

Several players stepped up in the win against the 49ers, but the Rams reelased video of Kobie Turner, Joshua Karty and Darious Williams getting game balls for their contributions.
