As the Los Angeles Rams gear up for Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals, they are hoping to get a number of players back from injuries. Sebastian Joseph-Day, Darrell Henderson Jr., and Robert Rochell are just some of the players that have missed time for the Rams.
All three have been out for significant periods of time due to injury. Joseph-Day had surgery on a torn pectoral muscle that has held him out since Week 7. Meanwhile, Henderson suffered an MCL sprain in Week 17 and Rochell has been out since Week 13 with a chest injury.
In what could be huge news for the Rams, it appears all three could be on track to return when they take the field at SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon, according to Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
Rams head coach Sean McVay said “there is a good chance” that defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day, running back Darrell Henderson Jr. and cornerback Robert Rochell will be ready to go for Super Bowl LVI against the Bengals.
McVay then said it’s “looking optimistic” for Joseph-Day and Henderson’s return from injury heading into Super Bowl LVI against the Bengals.
Of these three, getting Joseph-Day back is arguably the biggest game-changer. Having yet another player who can put pressure on Joe Burrow and the Bengals’ inconsistent offensive line would be massive towards getting necessary stops.
Meanwhile, Rochell can bring some depth to a secondary that has had some difficulties outside of Jalen Ramsey. Darious Williams and David Long Jr. have struggled at times during the Rams run to the Super Bowl.
On the offensive end, having Henderson back in the fold provides Sean McVay with yet another reliable running back. Having Cam Akers take the bulk of the carries with Sony Michel and Henderson providing changes of pace would greatly help Matthew Stafford in play action sets.
The Rams appear to be getting as healthy as they’ve been all season long just before the biggest game of the season. Hopefully, this can translate to a strong showing and a Super Bowl win for Los Angeles.
Stafford excited for Super Bowl, but remaining calm
Perhaps no one could benefit more from a Super Bowl win than Stafford, as a win could elevate him into a new tier of quarterbacks in league history. However, as excited as Stafford is, he knows he has to treat it the same as any other game.
Keeping his composure is the best way to limit mistakes and ensure the Rams have quality offensive drives throughout the game.
