Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua was off to a historic start to the 2025 season before he went down with an ankle sprain in the team’s Week 6 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Nacua was forced to sit out of the Rams’ Week 7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, but then the bye came at the perfect time as it allowed him and other players to rest up for another week without missing any more game action.
It appears the bye did Nacua well as Sean McVay said earlier in the week that he expects the star receiver back in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints, and now he confirmed himself that he feels great and ready to go, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“I’m feeling fantastic,” Nacua said. “Feel ready to go.”
Naturally, Nacua was upset that he even had to miss one game, especially as he watched teammate Davante Adams score three touchdowns in London and wasn’t able to celebrate with him:
“It was a little painful, because I’m like, we’ve been working on some handshakes, and I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m like, I can’t run out there and like, meet you in the end zone as I would normally expect to,” Nacua said with a laugh. “But it was just super exciting though, because we see this stuff during practice, some of the catches that he makes, you’re like, ‘Holy cow. Like, man, if there were cameras out there, (if) that was in the game, it would be some of the best things ever.’ So to finally see it come to fruition on Sundays, it was amazing, and to see those two get on the same page, but then also to see the excitement that I know I’ve watched him play with and he’s had continually, but then also for him to feel that the hard work be rewarded, that I know he’ll continue for sure.”
The Rams used the time Nacua was out to spread the ball around on offense, allowing Matthew Stafford to build more chemistry with Adams and his other receivers and tight ends.
That should bode will for the Rams’ offense now that Nacua is back as the team looks to pick up where it left off before the bye.
Saints starting rookie quarterback against Rams
The Saints announced that they will be making a change at quarterback in Week 9, giving Tyler Shough his first career start against the Rams.
