The Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl defense season has been ruined by injuries as a number of key players have missed time.
Among them are Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald, Allen Robinson, Jordan Fuller and about a dozen offensive linemen. Because of that, the Rams are sitting at 4-9 and out of playoff contention.
Although this season hasn’t gone as planned, the last few weeks have provided opportunities for young players to get playing time, showing the coaching staff what they can do in hopes of earning a bigger role in the future.
The Rams have continued to play hard and finally got back in the win column in Week 14 when they erased a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football.
Unfortunately though, the injuries continued to pile up in that game as now Jacob Harris will miss the rest of the season with a torn pec, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
Rams head coach Sean McVay on Friday said wide receiver Jacob Harris sustained a torn pec against the Raiders and will need surgery.
The injury occurred when Harris was covering a punt early in the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game. He exited the game with 11:02 remaining and did not return.
“It’s unfortunate,” McVay said during a video conference with reporters Friday. “He’s done a really good job, and I’ve really seen a lot of growth from Jacob. And that’s a bummer to end his season like that.”
Harris has appeared in seven games this season, mostly playing on special teams while recording one reception.
When the Rams drafted the former tight end turned receiver in the fourth round in 2021, he was thought to have a lot of untapped upside. He hasn’t been able to show that though, and now has a long road to recovery before taking the field for L.A. again.
