As odd as it is to hear, the Los Angeles Rams still have more pieces to build upon their stellar offense. Heading into the 2019 NFL season, the Rams will hope to add one more piece.

Rams third-year wide receiver Cooper Kupp is recovering from a torn ACL suffered during Week 10 of last season. Kupp had grabbed six touchdown receptions before going down.

Since his injury, Kupp has been looking at how he can best recover. He told Myles Simmons of therams.com that he does not want to feel sorry for himself:

“There’s never a point of feeling sorry for yourself — there’s nothing good that comes from that. There is a time of the realization — there’s definitely disappointment, but there’s a time of realization that, ‘This is what it’s going to take to get back. This is where I’m at right now.’ And then setting the game-plan and moving forward on that,” Kupp said following Monday’s first OTA practice of the spring. “And even just the night that it happens, being able to talk with my wife and the trainers, and just be like, ‘Let’s get a plan together right now.’ And, ‘What can I do to make sure this is accelerated as best as it possibly can?’ And I’m all-in on making sure this is the best rehab that we can possibly do.”

Now that the Rams are beginning organized team activities, Kupp is seeing time on the field. He was out shadowing the offense earlier in the week. However, he is still very limited in what activities he can do. Most of his time was spent on a stationary bike.

Kupp says that he wants to push himself as much as the training staff will let him. To him, he would rather push the limits of his recovery rather than be pushed. Kupp’s recovery is managed by Rams head trainer Reggie Scott. Kupp is feeling happy with the way his recovery has been going:

“I’m taking it day-by-day,” Kupp said. “It’s just about attacking this week, attacking the day as best as I possibly can. And I feel good about where I’m at.”

The biggest challenge for Rams head coach Sean McVay has been keeping him sidelined. McVay described Kupp as a “kid” waiting to get some playing time.

Star quarterback Jared Goff did not mince any words when talking about Kupp’s excitement to hit the field. Goff suggested a shock collar to prevent Kupp from overworking himself.

Kupp has only played 23 games in his budding career. In that time he has grabbed 102 receptions for 14.1 yards per catch. He began starting games towards the end of his rookie season and started all eight of his games in 2018.
