The Los Angeles Rams traveled to take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7 and got a much-needed victory to snap their three-game losing streak. In what was perhaps their most complete performance of the season, the Rams won by a score of 37-10 to move to 4-3 on the season.
The Rams’ defense has taken a lot of criticism for their play in recent weeks, but they proved all the doubters wrong against the Falcons. The addition of Jalen Ramsey is already looking like it will pay off as he had an impact on almost every big play the Rams had on defense.
His coverage of Julio Jones helped the defensive line sack Matt Ryan five times, led by a career-high three sacks from Dante Fowler Jr.
Cory Littleton came up with the Rams’ only interception on the day on a tipped pass to set the offense up with good field position in the third quarter. Aaron Donald also created a turnover with a strip-sack of Ryan that he recovered himself.
Los Angeles’ special teams unit also had a strong day as not only did JoJo Natson have some solid returns, but Johnny Hekker also converted a fake punt and then the Rams’ punt team forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown late in the game to ice it.
The performance of the defense and special teams certainly helped out the offense, but Jared Goff also had a solid day of his own. He completed 22 of 37 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns, also rushing for another touchdown. The Rams have struggled on third down this season, but they went 8-for-16 on Sunday thanks to some quality throws by Goff.
