Each offseason, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has to make changes to his coaching staff because they make for quality head coaching candidates.

In McVay’s tenure in Los Angeles, several of his coordinators have gone to become head coaches of their own teams. Examples include Matt LeFleur, Zac Taylor, Kevin O’Connell, and Liam Coen, who all have seen moderate success coaching their own squads. This past hiring cycle, Mike LeFleur was selected to become the Arizona Cardinals’ new head coach which is a tough loss for McVay given how closely the two collaborated on the offensive system.

However, McVay’s got a proven eye for coaching talent and finds ways to revamp his staff without losing any noticeable production. This year, McVay made several hires and the team released the full coaching staff for the upcoming 2026 season, via the Rams’ official X account:

Kingsbury’s hiring came without a title initially, but he has moved into an assistant head coaching position right behind McVay. Meanwhile, Robert Woods and Brian Allen return to the franchise as its new assistant wide receivers coach and assistant offensive line coach, respectively. Both Roberts and Allen were members of the Super Bowl LVI roster, so they bring championship experience and a deep familiarity with McVay’s offense.

On the flipside, one of the shocking departures is Aubrey Pleasant who has not taken a position with another team. Pleasant spent several years in Los Angeles in various capacities, most recently serving as the assistant head coach and pass game coordinator. Jimmy Lake will now serve as the new defensive backs coach/pass game coordinator with Michael Hunter serving as assistant defensive backs coach.

Another noteworthy change is Nate Scheelhaase being promoted to offensive coordinator while Dave Ragone moves into an assistant coordinator/quarterbacks coach role.

Kingsbury isn’t the only coach coming over from Washington as he is bringing Brian Johnson with him. Johnson also recently served as offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.

After a season where the Rams fell short of their title aspirations, this new coaching staff will be tasked with getting over the hump in 2026.

Sean McVay says Bubba Ventrone brings energy and toughness to Rams

Another key hire this offseason for Sean McVay was Bubba Ventrone who will serve as the Rams’ new special teams coordinator. Following the hiring being made official, McVay said Ventrone brings energy and toughness to Los Angeles’ squad.
