Just over a week removed from the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, the NFL offseason has expectedly entered a bit of a lull.

Action will likely pick up closer to the start of the new league year in March when the free agency period begins and trades are once again permitted. Until then, other sports leagues figure to benefit from the NFL’s down period.

That was evident this past week when news broke of a blockbuster trade in Major League Baseball. The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Mookie Betts and David Price from the Boston Red Sox, adding yet another former MVP and Cy Young Award winner to their talented roster.

The deal sparked excitement across the city, and that only figures to heighten with the baseball season fast approaching. Pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training this week, and Betts and Price are set to be introduced by the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey was equally thrilled by the trade and took to Twitter to welcome fellow Tennessee native Betts to his new home:

L.A. sports teams have historically been supportive of each other, and the Ramsey-Betts exchange is the latest example of that. Just last month, Todd Gurley and John Johnson III were spotted at a Kings game chugging beers with other Dodgers players in attendance as well.

While Betts still hasn’t commented on his trade to the Dodgers, it’s worth pointing out that he liked Ramsey’s tweet. The two also follow each other on Twitter, so their friendship presumably dates back even before Betts’ arrival to L.A.

Ramsey himself is relatively new to the city having been acquired by the Rams last October for a haul of draft picks. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract and hopes to eventually work out a long-term extension with the organization.

Ramsey and Betts are just a few of the many stars to join L.A. over the last calendar year. The Lakers acquired Anthony Davis last June, the Clippers went on to add both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, and the Galaxy also recently signed Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez.
